About our Logo

The Russian 'nesting dolls' or Matrioshka have been developed since the late 1800's. Our logo depicts a devastated mother and two children standing in front of an Atomic cloud. The all-flower design is damaged as a result of the Chernobyl disaster. The saddened mother has a tear in her eye knowing the catastrophe that has befallen her family but the children are still smiling blissfully unaware of the deadly curse that surrounds them.

On April 26, 1986 the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant performed a routine 20 -second shut down of the system that seemed to be just another test of the electrical system. Seven seconds later, a surge created a chemical explosion that released dangerous radionuclides into the atmosphere. The force of the explosion spread contamination over large parts of the old Soviet Union. Nearby cities were immediately evacuated, the residents leaving all of their possessions behind in an area said to be uninhabitable for over 600 years. To see how the area looks today we recommend you visit http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chernobyl-revisited/
