Children's Visit

Since its inception the Fund has arranged an annual 6-7 week visit of Children from the irradiated regions. So far over 1332 children have come to our country. The children are looked after by volunteer host families who have found it a wonderful experience for both the host family and the child. Memories of hosting a child from another country/culture can last a lifetime for all parties. Friendships that endure for many years are formed as a result of this kindness. The children may not be directly affected by the Chernobyl disaster, but all are affected by decades of blatant environmental mismanagement.

The next group of children, aged between 10 and 13 of age, will arrive in Melbourne on Saturday the 17th of May 2008. We still require a few more host families to share the experience of showing the children our great country and also learning a little more about Russia.
