The Victims of Chernobyl National Relief Fund Inc. was established in 1990. It is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Our primary functions are collecting and distributing humanitarian aid. The aid is donated by extremely generous and compassionate Australians, including hundreds of knitters from the Country Women's Association, and usually leaves Australia in late October or early November each year so that it arrives in time for the Orthodox Christmas early in January. For some children this is the only assistance they will receive.

To ensure that it gets to the needy, all aid distributed is supervised by a representative of this organization.

Currently a 40 ft container made up of brand new knitted goods, walking frames, new apparel, shoes, a little amount of food items and other items is in Russia awaiting distribution.

In accordance with Australian and Russia Customs regulations all items must be listed and valued. A conservative value of $718,000 Australian dollars has been given to this container

Unfortunately raising the cost of the airfare for our representative is always a heavy drain on our limited resources and we are always desperately seeking donations for this worthy cause.
